what we don’t want!

The following can be found in various brands of conventional toothpaste. Does your toothpaste have a warning that says "harmful if swallowed?" I don't know about you, but here on planet Earth,  our teeth are located in our mouths, the start of our mechanism that leads to swallowing things.

This might still be one area you have not yet swapped out and I encourage you to take a look at making the switch with your next order.

PROPYLENE GLYCOL
causes damage to the liver,  heart, kidneys and central nervous system

TRICLOSAN
affects the hormonal system; known carcinogen

ASPARTAME
known carcinogen,  aspartame poisoning mimics fibromyalgia symptoms, causes insulin resistance

PARABENS
estrogenic

FLOURIDE
Since the 1940's, fluoride has been added to many community water supplies throughout the United States. But for years, the ongoing debate over whether or not fluoride is safe, has left many people opting out until a more solid conclusion is made. Natural health experts, with a desire to protect individual freedom of choice, have raised concerns over negative effects on health including problems with bones, teeth, and neurological development.

SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE
(SLS) is a synthetic surfactant used in many cleaning and hygiene products. Found in everything from household cleaners, to laundry detergent to beauty products to yes, you guessed it...your toothpaste. In laboratory applications, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is used in cleaning procedures and is commonly used as a component for lysing cells during RNA or DNA extraction (oh, what is lysing? I'm glad you asked. Lysis is the breaking down of the membrane of a cell.) The side effects of SLS have been known to cause skin and eye irritation (making SLS-free detergents popular among those with chronic skin hypersensitivity such as psoriasis or eczema)  And oral concerns over SLS as a foaming and cleaning agent, have included skin irritation and canker sores. Emerging research is working to understand the relation between SLS and neurotoxicity, organ toxicity, and endocrine disruption.

Young Living has infused their dental line with age-old wisdom combined with the latest in natural health care advances.

CLOVE
Used for centuries in dentistry, clove offers a way to naturally soothe and calm minor irritation with its topically numbing effects.  It has been found to help reduce swelling, and ease a mild toothache.  The active ingredient in clove is eugenol.  Even conventional toothpaste manufacturers such as Colgate, have recognized clove on their website as an "at home solution" if you can't get into your dentist right away.

ORANGE & LEMON
The aromas alone are absolutely invigorating but both essential oils prove a brightened outlook not only on your attitude, but on keeping your teeth appearing whiter as well!

XYLITOL
If it sounds like the name of a Super Hero, it is because it should be! This one packs a mighty punch by potentially starving the harmful bacteria in your mouth!  This natural sweetener does this by increasing salivary flow and pH13.  Incredible how the body works, isn't it?
