What? You don't have a chainsaw in your R&D office?
As you well know, the D. Gary Young Research Institute and Young Living are dedicated to plant research and always learning more about aromatic plants around us. That means our scientists go out into the fields, into the canyons, into the desert, onto the farms, into the woods, and anywhere else aromatic plants or trees are either wild or cultivated to learn and discover (with permission of the land owner if it's not our own land, of course).

Why is this important? It's important because WE create Seed To Seal laboratory standards to set our essential oils specifications. WE harvest authentic plant material (also called biomass) to distill in-house. WE collect the oil directly off the distillation apparatus. OUR scientists analyze the oil in our OWN lab, with our OWN instruments. WE gain the knowledge about that plant material first hand.

We don't contract out to a third-party when we have the capability in-house. We don't contract out our quality assessments when we have the knowledge in-house. We don't just put an oil in a bottle and cross our fingers that it's good enough because someone else told us so. We have a Seed To Seal Quality Commitment to meet, and we take that responsibility VERY seriously.

Other companies would love to have the 28+ years of data and essential oil experience that we have at Young Living. Other companies would love to have the millions of dollars of analytical laboratory equipment that Young Living has invested. Other companies would love to know what we know.
